The new Issues, Etc. Listener Comment Line is now open.
The number is (618)223-8384.
Listeners can call and leave any comment –positive, negative, good, bad, ugly, it’s all welcome.
Even though the show doesn’t air until June 30, people can still call. They’ll be using some of the comments on the air after next Monday.

Hey, http://www.issuesetc.org is back up with information about the new show!
Mollie,
To your knowledge, how much of the old IE will be brought over to the new IE: old shows, IE Journal, IE logo, etc (pun intended).
It appears that the LCMS is allowing this new IE to use the name.
I don’t think the LCMS had much choice in the matter, since they apparently failed to continue to pay for the rights to the name. At least, that’s what I heard.
Let’s just say that the LCMS no longer owns the trademark on Issues, Etc and that they would lose any legal battle regarding the name and its use.
I believe there are some minutes of the BCS published a couple months ago that discuss the name of Issues, Etc and that maybe was where THEY discovered they hadn’t renewed the TM on the name. oops ;)
YAY! We can resume publishing “go to http://wwwissuesetc.org” in the bulletin again!
Let’s use mnemonics to remember this number.
I can use June 18 to remember 618. There was DeGaulle’ s [1940] Appeal of 18 June, which is considered by some to be the origin of the French Resistance to the German occupation during World War II.
Whoops!
The phone number spells out:
618-abet-evil [if you ad extra "L" at the end].
(according to http://www.phonespell.org).
Maybe I should just write down the number!
Just a suggestion about the “Automatically Generated Posts”…
Ya’ll might wanna rethink that. Here’s what I see now…

From the Trademark and Electronic Services System at uspto.gov , I discovered that the registration for the service mark for “Issues, Etc.” was cancelled in 1999 (!) back when Don Matzat was still the host because none of the LCMS synodocrats bothered to file a §8 Declaration of Continued Use in a timely manner. See http://www.uspto.gov/web/trademarks/workflow/prfaq.htm for the requirements.

I also noticed that Harry B. Madsen of Arlington Heights, IL, file for a trademark or service mark for “Issues, Etc.” on 2008-05-31, but that the application has not yet been assigned to an examining attorney.
I met Harry at either CSL or CTSFW; I can’t remember which. He is a long time supporter of “Issues, Etc.” who occasionally called in to the program.
A comment line!
Don’t ask me why, but I feel the need to crank call them…;-)
If I left an honest message, it would sound like this:
“I don’t agree with much of what you say, but by gum, I defend your right to say it. What the Purple Palace did was unconscionable, but once again, God has turned it for good. ‘Bless you and your listeners.”
So there’s my benediction to the guys and to all who listen to them!
I’m going to call in and imitate the “Burn in hell!” guy from the old IE commercials.
Has someone contacted Harry from Arlington Heights with the good news?
Arlington Heights, IL? where I saw a non-Lutheran lay person preaching from an LCMS pulpit last September?
This is a good topic for Todd to cover on the New Issues Non Lutherans preaching from an LCMS pulpit. Was it a sermon or an announcemet?
